19th December 2010
Cambuslang's Christmas Open Show at Wishaw today and it was definitely festive weather, as another fresh snowfall came down.
But after so many events had been cancelled due to adverse weather, it was nice to get out & about doing some doggy stuff again.
And we got an lovely early Christmas present as Chief won his class, Best of Breed and then went on to win the Hound Group!!!
Here he is pictured showing off his rosettes back in the warmth of the house.
6th November 2010
Good news! Chief's DNA test for MLS (Musladin-Leuke Syndrome) came back from the USA as N/N. This means he does not carry the defective gene which causes the syndrome. Yay.

24th October 2010
It was Kirkintilloch & Lenzie's Open show today at Wishaw.
Chief won the Graduate class and again it was nice to catch up
with fellow beaglers for a blether.
17th October 2010
Today was Galashiels & Borders Open show at Selkirk. It was a lovely drive down in bright sunshine and a small friendly show. Chief won the Open class, Best of Breed and then Group 3 in the Hounds!
3rd October 2010
Well, Cosmo was the star this weekend. We were at the Weimaraner Club of Scotland's Open obedience show at Alva and he won his PBG class!!! The weather and ground conditions were awful (very wet and muddy) which meant his sits during heelwork were a bit hesitant (would you want to sit in that???) but he did me proud and got full marks on everything else. Here is a link to a short video of his work today.
11th & 12th September 2010
There'll be no agility shows for a while now since the outdoor summer season has ended in Scotland, so it was the show-ring for Chief this weekend. And he did rather well. We were at Lothian's show in Edinburgh on Saturday where Chief won the Graduate class.
On Sunday we drove down to Dumfries for Annandale show and had a lovely day. Chief won the Open class, Best of Breed and then Group 2 in the Hounds! Afterward we had a really nice walk in the Dumfrieshire countryside, which pleased Cosmo no end as he'd been patiently waiting whilst his brother strutted his stuff. Here's Chief showing off his rosettes in Dumfries.
4th September 2010
A.C.T.S. agility show today up in Aberdeen. Cosmo the wee star was brought out of retirement again, just for one run, - and he WON again! My wee boy still has it. Not bad considering I missed walking the course so had to 'wing it' as it were.
Here's a link to his winning run.
7th August 2010
We haven't been at a Dog Show for about 2 months; so today was a nice change of scenery and a chance to catch up with folks. It was Falkirk CS's show at Edinburgh and Chief won the Graduate class. A change is as good as a rest, as they say, and it was lovely to see his half-sister Fudge win Best of Breed and Group 2!
31st July & 1st August 2010
WOW! Chief surpassed himself this weekend. We were up again in Aberdeen, this time at Granite City agility show and had another fantastic weekend up there. 8 runs over the weekend and Chief got FOUR CLEARS! Not only did he manage a 2nd place in Grade 3 Jumping, he WON Grade 3 Agility, which means he now moves up to Grade 4. Not bad for a crazy beagle boy. He's pictured here with his rosette and his photo-frame trophy.
Click here for a short video montage of the weekend.
24th & 25th July 2010
HE DID IT!!! Chief got a Clear Round outdoors and actually came 2nd in G3 Jumping! I was so pleased. We were down at Gleniffer ACs agility show in Ayrshire and had a lovely weekend.
17th & 18th July 2010
We were up in Aberdeen at my favourite agility show, run by the Scottish Bearded Collie Club, this weekend. I had entered Cosmo for one agility class, deciding to see how things went & whether to actually run him on the day. And what a wee star he was. Run like he'd never been away (he's been retired for a year) and was so focused and happy. And the best bit?....he won the class!! He is pictured with his trophy & rosette.
19th June 2010
It was the Scottish Beagle Club Championship dog show at Lanark today, and Chief won his Graduate Dog class. Here he is pictured showing off his trophy.
Had a nice day catching up with everyone and was pleased to see Chief's breeder Liz, and the handsome Bailey winning the Dog CC. :-)
30th May 2010
Luckily had no Agility, or Shows or Judging commitments this weekend which meant we could attend the Jan Bell Memorial Fun Day at the Caledonian Thistle Pedigree Whippet Racing Club, Kincardine. The weather held out and a good day was had by all. Chief won 'Best Racing Beagle Dog', then 'Best Beagle' in the Fun Dog Show, but Cosmo was the star of the day, winning 'Best Veteran Dog' and then going on to win Best in Show! My little scruffy, veteran terrier! He also enjoyed a fun-run up the whippet track (to everyone's amusement). The racing was good fun, Murphy the Track Champ won the Jan Bell Memorial Trophy beagle race, a fitting tribute to Jan.
23rd May 2010
Scottish Kennel Club show today in roasting sunshine - Chief was entered in both the Show and Agility!! Thankfully everything worked out really well (even me having to change clothes from 'running' stuff to 'show' stuff in the back of the van).
In showing, Chief won the Post Graduate Dog class, qualifying him for Crufts 2011. Yay! Had a lovely time with him in the ring, and his breeder Liz won the RCC.
In agility, a decent run. A silly mistake meant a Refusal, so still no Clear round outdoors yet but I was so pleased with him.

Chief won Best of Breed and Hound G2 at Irvine Canine Club's Open Show today. The Whippet that won Hound G1 then went on to win Best in Show, so I was very pleased. :-)

Wow! What a day! Chief won Best in Show at Kirkintilloch & Lenzie Canine Society's Ruby Anniversary Show!! Absolutely over the moon. Here he is posing with his ribbons and trophy, after a very memorable day. Thanks to the judges Paul McFarlane and Bob Nicolson for a fantastic day.

28th Dec 2009
Despite terrible weather conditions we made it to Livingston's Open show, and Chief won Best of Breed! He had to withdraw from the group though, as his breeder Liz was judging it. Here he is pictured with the breed judge, Lynn Bailey, and his trophy.
